CLUTCH INSPECTION 4. Inspect surface of shaft for pitting, grooves or
damage. Measure the outside diameter and
NOTE compare to specifications. Replace the drive clutch
assembly if shaft is worn or damaged.
Remove cover, spring, limiter spacer and spider
following the instructions for drive clutch disassembly,
then proceed as follows:

1. Remove and inspect the moveable sheave spacer
q. Visually inspect the spacer for damage and
replace if necessary.

MEASUREMENT
Shaft Diameter:
Standard: 1.3725 - 1.3712″
(34.8615 - 34.8488 mm)
Service Limit: 1.3704″ (34.8088 mm)

5. Visually inspect the thrust washers for damage.
Measure the thickness and compare to specification.
Replace if worn or damaged.
MEASUREMENT

Thrust Washer Thickness:
Standard: .030″ (.76 mm)
Service Limit: .025″ (.64 mm)

2. Remove the moveable clutch sheave.
3. Lift bearing e and thrust washers w off the shaft.
Replace as an assembly if worn, damaged, or if
operational problems were noted prior to
disassembly.
