THOTTLE CONTROL SENSOR (TCS)
THROTTLE CONTROL SENSOR OVERVIEW
NOTE
DO NOTattempt to service the Throttle Control Sensor.
The Throttle Control Sensor is a non-serviceable
component and can only be tested using Digital
Wrench®. If the Throttle Control Sensor is faulty, the
entire right hand control assembly must be replaced.
Mounted to the right hand control assembly, the Throttle
Control Sensor acts as a throttle position sensor. The
TCS provides throttle lever position to the Electronic
Control Unit (ECU) to increase or decrease engine RPM
using the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC). The Throttle 4
Control Sensor is the primary input used to control
engine speed during vehicle operation.
THROTTLE CONTROL SENSOR TEST
The TCS can be tested utilizing Digital Wrench® by
verifying that throttle position readout varies as the lever
is pressed. Reference the Data Display section and be
sure Throttle Position is displayed. With the ignition key
on for at least 15 seconds and engine not running, the
Throttle Position will read approximately 9.6% when the
lever is released.
NOTE
If the TCS fails, disconnect the battery power for 10
min. and retest.
