2. Stop the engine and allow it to cool down.

The sealing surface on the drain plug should be clean

and free of burrs, nicks or scratches.

skin, as serious burns may result. 10.Reinstall the engine crankcase drain plug. Torque

4. Place a drain pan under the engine crankcase and
remove the drain plug q. Allow the oil to drain TORQUE

12 ft-lbs (16 Nm)
11. Remove oil dipstick (See Chapter 2 – Engine Oil
Level). Using the oil fill funnel, fill engine with 3.0
quarts (2.9 L) of recommended engine oil.

5. Remove the seat and airbox access panel to access Ambient Temp Range: 0° F to 120° F

15 seconds before removing the dipstick.
15.Unlock the dipstick lever. Remove the dipstick and
wipe it dry with a clean cloth (see Chapter 2 – Engine
Oil Level).
16.Reinstall the dipstick and push it into place. Do not
lock the dipstick.
NOTE
Make certain the dipstick is inserted all the way into the
dipstick tube to keep the depth of the dipstick
consistent.
17.Remove the dipstick and check the oil level.
