TROUBLESHOOTING

ENGINE • Dirt entering engine through cracks in air filter or ducts
• Engine oil dirty or contaminated
Spark Plug Fouling
• Spark plug cap loose or faulty Excessive Smoke and Carbon Buildup
• Incorrect spark plug heat range or gap • Excessive piston-to-cylinder clearance
• PVTsystem calibrated incorrectly/ components worn • Worn rings, piston, or cylinder
or mis-adjusted • Worn valve guides or seals
• Fuel quality poor (old) or octane too high • Restricted breather
• Low compression • Air filter dirty or contaminated
• Restricted exhaust
• Weak ignition (loose coil ground, faulty coil, or stator) Piston Failure - Scoring
• Restricted air filter (main or pre-cleaner) or breather
system • Lack of lubrication
• Improperly assembled air intake system • Dirt entering engine through cracks in air filter or ducts
• Restricted engine breather system • Engine oil dirty or contaminated
• Oil contaminated with fuel
Slow Engine Cranking
Engine Turns Over But Fails To Start • Weak battery

Engine Idles But Will Not Accelerate
