FUEL TANK REMOVAL / INSTALLATION 7. While holding a shop towel over the fuel line
FUEL TANK REMOVAL connectors, disconnect fuel supply line e and fuel
vent line r from the fuel tank.
NOTICE
Syphon as much fuel from the tank as possible before
attempting to remove it from the vehicle.

WARNING
Always wear safety goggles when working with high
pressure or flammable fluids. Failure to do so could
result in serious injury or complications.

1. Remove the driver and passenger seats.
2. Remove upper and lower rear close off panels.
3. Disconnect the negative q and positive w battery
cables from the battery, located under the driver’s NOTICE
seat. 5
A small amount of fuel may come out of the fuel lines or
pump fitting. Properly drain fuel into a suitable
container.

8. Remove two fasteners t and remove the fuel tank
strap y.

4. Remove the battery bracket fasteners and remove
the battery from the vehicle.
5. Remove the lower floor panels. See Console and
Lower Floor Removal page 11.21.

6. Disconnect the fuel pump electrical harness.
