ENGINE / COOLING SYSTEM
2. Remove the upper engine outlet hose and recovery 6. Remove the (2) bolts retaining the thermostat cover.

bolts retaining the lower radiator mount bracket.
Remove the bracket from the frame.

7. Lift the cover from the engine and remove the
thermostat.
8. Reverse this procedure for installation. Replace
thermostat seal if worn or damaged. Torque
thermostat cover bolts to specification.
TORQUE
4. Disconnect the fan motor and remove the radiator
from the vehicle. Take care not to damage the cooling Thermostat Cover Bolt:
fins. 7.3 ft–lbs (10 Nm)
5. Reverse procedure for installation.
9. Be sure to properly fill and bleed cooling system as
outlined in this chapter.
THERMOSTAT REPLACEMENT
1. Remove the left side panel and PVT intake / exhaust COOLING SYSTEM BLEEDING PROCEDURE

The cooling system is under pressure and serious when performing the procedures in this manual. Failing
burns may result. to do so may lead to possible injury or death.
Allow the engine to cool before servicing.
Use caution when performing these procedures.
2. Remove front rack , front cab and fuel tank . (not Coolant may be hot and may cause severe injury or

3. Remove the pressure cap to relieve any system
pressure (see “Pressure Cap Test”). If the coolant level is LOW in the radiator, or if there are
leaks in the system, the coolant system will not draw

5. Remove the spark plug wire from the engine. It may be necessary to safely raise the front of the
vehicle 12” (30 cm) to bleed the cooling system.
1. Allow engine and cooling system to completely cool.
CAUTION
Be sure the engine has cooled and no pressure is built
up in the cooling system before removing the pressure
cap. The coolant may be hot and could cause severe
injury or burns.
