26.Torque two lower steering cast mounting fasteners to LOWER STEERING SHAFT INSTALLATION
specification.
1. Install the lower steering shaft onto the gear box and
align the marks made during step 2 of the “Lower
Steering Shaft Removal” procedure.
2. Install the pinch bolt that retains the lower steering
shaft to the steering rack assembly and torque to
specification.
TORQUE
Steering Shaft to Steering Rack Pinch Bolt:
50 ft-lbs (68 Nm)

3. Install the power steering unit and reassemble the
vehicle (see “Power Steering Unit Installation”
outlined in this chapter).

TORQUE
Steering Cast Mounting Fasteners (Lower):
26 ft-lbs (35 Nm)

27.Torque two upper steering cast mounting fasteners to
specification.

TORQUE
Steering Cast Mounting Fasteners (Upper):
26 ft-lbs (35 Nm)
