WASTEGATE FLAPPER INSPECTION P1234 BOOST REFERENCE CODE
Due to the high pressures and temperatures seen in the TROUBLESHOOTING
turbine, the wastegate flapper and associated
components are susceptible to wear after extended use. 1. Visually inspect all vacuum lines, and boost reference
lines.
2. Verify all reference/vent lines to control valve are free-
flowing and clear of debris.

3. Remove intake bezels and check for any foreign
objects/debris.
BOOST CONTROL VALVE
Inspect the boost control valve for:

• Plugged vent line.
• Plugged actuator pod line.
• Stuck solenoid.

1. Supply boost control valve with power and ground.
Pressure will flow from the compressor housing line
to the boost control valve. The boost control valve will
send boost pressure to vent line. No pressure should
be seen at the actuator pod.

Disc Bushing

Looking inside the turbine outlet, ensure the wastegate
flapper is closed flat against the turbine seat. Ensure the
flapper disc is properly sealed over the wastegate port,
and that no gap is visible that can let exhaust gas past
the wastegate when fully closed.
