8. Install the fasteners that retain the steering column. 2. Select option 5 from Special Tests menu.
Torque fasteners to specification.
TORQUE
Steering Column Asm Fasteners:
40 ft-lb (54 Nm)

9. Install the fastener retaining the upper portion of the
steering wheel tilt shock to the pivot tube. Torque
fastener to specification.

TORQUE
Tilt Shock Bolt:
7 ft-lb (10 Nm)

10.Be sure the front wheels are facing straight forward.
Remove the steering wheel and align as needed.

Apply Loctite 271 . Torque the steering wheel nut to
specification.
TORQUE 3. Select option 1 at the next menu.
Steering Wheel Nut:
65 ft-lbs (88 Nm)

EPS PRE-POSITIONING / STEERING
ANGLE CENTERING
EPS PRE-POSITION PROCEDURE
The EPS pre-position procedure should be performed if:

• The EPS has been removed/replaced 4. Follow instructions in Digital Wrench to properly pre-
position the EPS unit.
• The steering shafts have been disconnected

The EPS Steering Angle Sensor Centering procedure

IMPORTANT

Before continuing, the steering rack and input shafts
must be disconnected from the EPS module. • New steering components have been installed
If necessary, remove the EPS module. If EPS module
has skip-tooth splines, mark locations of the skip-tooth • The SCM is indicating out-of-alignment faults
splines on the module shafts.
EPS module electrical connectors MUST be connected, IMPORTANT
and the ignition key “ON”
The steering system must be properly aligned, and
steering wheel must be straight before performing this
procedure.
1. Connect vehicle to Digital Wrench, and select
“Special Tests” menu.
