                   ELECTRICAL AND IGNITION SYSTEM

                   BATTERY MAINTENANCE                                   BATTERY REMOVAL

                   the terminals with dielectric grease or petroleum jelly.

                        Batteries, battery posts, terminals and related
                      accessories contain lead and lead compounds, and
                      other chemicals known to the State of California to
                      cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive
                                          harm.
                            WASH HANDS AFTER HANDLING.

                                                                         2. Disconnect the black (negative) battery cable(s).

                                                                         3. Disconnect the red (positive) battery cable(s).

                           KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.


                                        NOTICE
                     Batteries must be fully charged before use or battery
                     life will be reduced by 10-30% of full potential. Charge
                     battery according to “Charging Procedure”page 11.48.
                     Do not use the vehicle’s stator/alternator to charge a
                                       new battery.
                                                                         5. Lift the battery out of the vehicle.

                   Refer to Charging Procedure page 11.48 and Battery Off
                   Season Storagepage 11.47 in the electrical chapter.    Using a new battery that has not been fully charged can
                                                                           damage the battery, result in a shorter life and hinder
                                                                                         vehicle performance.


                                                                         1. Ensure the battery is fully charged.
