LOWER STEERING SHAFT REMOVAL STEERING RACK REMOVAL

1. Use the steering wheel to position the front wheels so 1. Disengage 1/4 turn latches q and remove the hood.
they point straight ahead.
2. Locate the lower steering shaft through the left front
wheel well. Mark the lower steering shaft, gear box
stub shaft and gear box to aid installation.

2. Remove storage box.

3. Remove the power steering unit (see Power Steering
Unit Removal, page 8.6 outlined in this chapter.
4. Remove the pinch bolt q retaining the lower steering
shaft w to the steering gear box assembly e.

3. Remove T30 Torx screw w retaining the battery strap
e and remove battery strap.

5. Lift up on the shaft and remove it through the floor
panel.

4. Disconnect positive (+) and negative (-) leads from
the battery and remove the battery.
