FRONT SUSPENSION
A-ARM REMOVAL / REPLACEMENT 6. Remove the screws e and plastic rivets r retaining
the front bumper to allow A-arm bolt removal.
The following procedure details upper and lower A-Arm
replacement for one side of the vehicle.
1. Elevate and safely support the front of the vehicle.
2. Remove the front wheel.
3. Remove lower shock fastener q from the upper A-
arm.
7. Remove the brake line from the retainer t on the
upper A-Arm.
4. Remove upper ball joint pinch bolt w from bearing
carrier.
8. Loosen and remove the upper A-arm through-bolt
fastener y and remove the upper A-arm from the
vehicle.
9. Examine A-arm bushings and pivot tube. Replace if
worn. Discard hardware.
5. Using a soft face hammer, tap on bearing carrier to WARNING
loosen the upper A-arm ball joint end while lifting The locking agent on the existing bolts was destroyed
upward on the upper A-arm. Completely remove the during removal. DO NOT reuse old hardware. Serious
ball joint end from the bearing carrier. injury or death could result if fasteners come loose
during operation.
10. If not replacing the A-arm, thoroughly clean the A-
arm and pivot tube.
11. Install new ball joint into A-arm. Refer to “Ball Joint
Replacement” section.
12. Insert new A-arm bushings and pivot tube into new
A-arm.
